RED BULL RACING

  Austrian Flag   NATIONALITY: AUSTRIAN

Red Bull Racing is one of two Formula One teams owned by Austrian beverage company Red Bull (the other being Scuderia Toro Rosso). The team is based in Milton Keynes in the UK but holds an Austrian licence. The team is managed by Christian Horner, boss of the Arden International GP2 Series team. Red Bull, agreed its purchase of Jaguar Racing on the final day of the sale, 15 November 2004. Ford asked bidders for a symbolic US$1 in return for a commitment to invest US$400 million in the team over three grand prix seasons. Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber are the teams drivers

With the purchase of the new team there was a partnership that would also come to an end. Ford would be forced to end the partnership with Sauber. In 2004, with the purchase of the team, would come one of the most popular racing franchises that could be seen throughout the Formula one racing community. Through the acquisition of the team, and the popular sponsorship of Red Bull, the team has just increased in popularity throughout this time. The other team that is owned by Red Bull is the Red Bull Racing Junior team, which has an array of promising young drivers hoping to make it to the Formula One track someday. As well as drivers in the Red Bull, as well as the Junior team, there are also an array of drivers that can be found in another team that feeds the F1 races, the GP2 teams – and therefore there are a variety of drivers within this series that are sponsored by Red Bull. Rising star Vettel took the team’s first win in China in 2008 and then repeated the performance at the British Grand Prix. Red Bull Racing was one of only four teams to have signed the Concorde Agreement starting in 2008, guaranteeing its long-term involvement in Formula One. The Milton Keynes-based team is enjoying its best-ever season in F1 having won both the Drivers Title and Consturcors Title. To maximise lead time, development work on F1 cars is completed the year before they are introduced. In the year to December 31, 2009, Red Bull’s spending accelerated 29.5pc to £107m. This comprised the lion’s share of the team’s £161m turnover, with the balance coming from prize money and sponsorship. It finished the year with a pre-tax profit of £4m, which was up more than six-fold year-on-year. The team’s costs increased 8.8pc to £157m, with its single biggest outgoing believed to be the £57.2m spent on research and development. This rose 18.8pc year-on-year
